HARRISBURG—Pennsylvania State Representative and State Legislators for Legal Immigration founder Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler County) announced today that he will be participating in a panel discussion this Saturday titled “Taking the Illegal Immigration Battle to the State Level” at the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) National Board of Advisors Conference in Washington, D.C.

 

“As we learned yet again from the purely emotional, fear-mongering feedback we received from this Monday’s release of the Invasion PA report, one of the most frequently used weapons to extend the stay of illegal alien invaders is to put forth the myth that state lawmakers have no jurisdiction when it comes to creating and enforcing immigration policy,” said Metcalfe.  “However, with the federal government currently AWOL in fulfilling its Constitutional responsibilities to protect American lives, property and jobs against the clear and present dangers of illegal immigration, it is a clear violation of our sworn oath of office to uphold our state and federal constitutions if we do not take individual action to address this undeniable national security issue.

 

“When you consider the unprecedented, ongoing and absolutely voluntary exodus of illegal aliens from states such as Arizona, Georgia and Oklahoma that have already enacted tangible reforms to shut off the economic faucets of illegal jobs and taxpayer funded benefits, it becomes even more clear that state lawmakers can and must effectively complete the job that Washington, D.C. refuses to do.   If every state legislature from Alaska to Florida would translate this National Security Begins at Home strategy into legislative practice, virtually every illegal alien in America would have no choice but to go home on their own.”

“The overriding purpose of putting together the Invasion PA report is to shatter the inaccurate and erroneous stereotype that illegal aliens continue to violate our nation’s immigration laws in search of a better way of life or to fill the jobs that Americans supposedly won’t do,” said Metcalfe.   “Convicted or unjustly released back into our communities, the more than 3,100 illegal alien invaders documented in this report include first-degree murderers, addictive drug dealers, cop-killing gang members, child molesting sexual predators and terrorists in waiting who deserve punishment to the fullest extent of the law, or at the very least immediate deportation, rather than the dignity and respect of being called immigrants.”   

 

In mid-May, Metcalfe announced the formation of State Legislators for Legal Immigration.   This national coalition of state lawmakers is dedicated to the mission of protecting American lives, personal liberties, property and jobs from the clear and present dangers of illegal immigration by demanding full cooperation among federal, state and local governments to secure America’s borders against unlawful invasion.   Including Pennsylvania, lawmakers from 31 state legislatures, or 60 percent of the nation, have now signed on as members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration.
